Not so sure anymore
We travel in fast-moving currents
Over rocks where it’s easy to slip
Carousels of tricky moments
Can make you lose your grip
Just some years ago it wasn’t that way
Was easier to keep sight of shore
And I’ve not come here to tell you a lie
Coz I’m not nearly so sure anymore
We’re all locked in our internet bubble
Cut off from the rest of the planet
Staving off reality and trouble
With our very own version of SKYNET
We’re losing the art of conversation
Even of being in a true relation
We seem to be happy with less…not more
And I’m truly not as sure as I was, anymore
I find myself looking for something more real
Something with a solid look and feel
We’ve got 74 genders and it won’t end there, for sure
Don’t we even know who we are in the raw, anymore?
We’ve screwed religion, sex and truth so much
There’s nothing left to twist more
But I’m not here to cry, shout or roar
Just,( ever so quietly), I’m not so sure anymore
I got no confidence in the Law
Or the obscene reason for that latest war
Statesmanship’s dead, were all in the red
And I PRAY for just communists under the bed
The gulf is yawning between rich and poor
And while I watch these lives of ours that cannot endure
All I can say is
I’m not the least bit surprised anymore!
Funny how we live life these days
Chasing likes across a Facebook page
Politician man’s scared to do what’s right
For fear of losing votes in the ensuing fight
Bullying’s all the rage in school
You’d think by now we’d have learnt the golden rule
Raise ‘em right at home… even if their butts get sore
Because, if you don’t, none of us will sleep anymore
The global population’s exploding
Immigrants charging the gate
Politician man’s got no answers
So the people are turning to hate
The Earth our mother is breaking
The Ocean’s collapsing the shore
Temperature’s rising, culture’s colliding
Can we SERIOUSLY take any more?
